Biography
Nelda B. Bailey is a higher education professional with more than 12 years of experience advising fraternities and sororities. She currently serves as the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Programs at Tulane University, where she leads strategic initiatives focused on policy development, community engagement, and risk management. During her time at Tulane, Nelda has helped strengthen relationships between the fraternity and sorority community and surrounding neighborhoods, elevate the overall fraternal experience, and launch the W.A.V.E. Standards of Excellence program. Nelda has a proven track record of sustained growth across her communities, and she has already overseen the successful expansion of four new organizations within Tulane’s community.
Prior to Tulane, Nelda held roles at American University, the University of South Carolina, Texas Tech University, and Mississippi State University. Professionally, Nelda favors risk management and skill development of her students. She remains actively involved in the profession through volunteer work with national fraternities and sororities as well as the Association for Fraternity and Sorority Advisors (AFA).
A proud Southern belle from Louisiana, Nelda earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she joined Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and her Master of Science from Mississippi State University.
Outside of work, she is an avid reader, ice cream connoisseur, music lover, and frequent traveler who enjoys eating her way through a new city.
